Museum Project

My family and I would go to Long Beach Island every year when I was younger. Yet it wasn't just my family that went it was my Mom's sister and her family and my grandmother that would go as well. It used to be the 10 of us who would rent a house for a week and have such a great time. We would go out to eat, play miniature golf, and go for walks. Those are the memories that I cherish.
Yet there is one memory I cherish the most when I was down there that really came back to me when I saw this art work. It was the summer of 1990 and I was only five years old. The weather that week wasn't especially great that, what can you do we still tried to make the best of it. Anyway my father, brother, and I went down to the most southern part of the Island which is the town of Holgate. From there you can see Atlantic City, but because of the clouds and overcast you couldn't that day. My father kept driving south through Holgate until there was no more road. We then got out and began to walk up on to the beach. It was very windy that day as well. The wind was whipping the sand up against me very hard, and it hurt a lot. I remember seeing the waves crashing up against the shore and jetty on that cloudy day. It looked like that even god himself wouldn't be able to stop the fury of the ocean as it kept washing away the beach bit by bit. .
I was falling behind, my father grew smaller and smaller in the distance. It was then that he stopped and saw something. At first I didn't know as to what he saw. All I did see at the time was him running out towards the water to grab something. He then grabbed something out of the water and signaled me to him. As I approached closer and closer I could see a sort of round object in his hands. When I got there I saw what he was eager to get. It was a huge clam. The clam was larger then my head. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. We then put the clam in a bucket we brought along and brought it home to keep for a while.
