Bioengineering Technology

At last, the worst issue of all is human cloning. I think that human cloning is the major disturbance experiment scientist could do. I agree with Father Richard McCormick he said, "any cloning of humans is morally repugnant" (Woodward 4). I also agree with Ayed bin Ahmad Qurani he said, "human cloning is wrong ""because it will cause an unbalance in the human nature God has created,"" and it would lead to the spread of unknown diseases"("Denounce Cloned Baby Claim-). In addition, he said, "[cloning] could replace marriage for the sake of reproduction through one gender without the need for the other which is "sinful, sinful-" ("Denounce Cloned Baby Claim-). I think that what Ayed bin Ahmad Qurani said is true because if scientists clone humans there would be no need for marriage plus we should let nature take it course. Furthermore, people are concern because scientists also want to clone headless human bodies as a future source of organs. I think that if scientists clone headless human bodies, it would be the worst act they could do. I also don't agree with Professor Silver because he said, ""nothing is wrong, philosophically or rationally,"" with producing headless humans for organs harvesting he wants to convince a skeptical public that it is perfectly O.K" (Krauthammer 76). I think that Professor Silver is wrong because it is bad to clone a human body especially if it doesn't have a head.
Besides cloning, another controversy is genetic manipulation. Genetic manipulation is altering selected genes. I think that genetic manipulation has its pros and cons. Some pros on genetic manipulation is that " now gene alteration is focusing on genetic therapy, which has goal of stopping deadly genetic diseases such as Tay-Sachs and Huntington's" (Wagner B23). I approve genetic manipulation if scientists are going to use it to save children from suffering and early death; in addition, people are concerned because "altering the random genetic combination that makes us who we are might seem worthwhile to individual's families, but it could be disastrous for society.
