Women and people generally decided to take action and ask for their rights only when they saw that weren't fighting alone but there were many others who embrace the same aspect. Many women were fed up with doing two jobs at a time without listening not even a "thank you. » However, they didn't do anything because they were afraid to give this fight alone.
Feminism has helped a lot women to come out of their difficult position that they were, made them gain back their self-confidence, self-understanding and also gave them the courage to fight for their rights and demand equal treatment in the society. The movement didn't make women to be either something more than housewives or more than women into labor force. The intention was to make the society understand that women can be good at both home and work. Men aren't the only human beings that can keep themselves busy with many things. Women are also capable to do so. With this, movement women finally managed to do something only for themselves. They started doing things that would help them establish in the society and make others treat them with respect, and as human beings with equal power. They provided for equal laws, rights, and treatment. They also provided for building women's health clinics, day care centers, shelters for victims of rape and intimate violence, feminists bookstores, theaters and college courses on women's studies.
In 1970's, the women's movement had a great impact on national public policy. The movement had scored many victories, particularly in female educational and career opportunities, and in abortion rights. As a reaction to those results, men tried to stop their movement and in a kind of way, they managed to do so. However, women kept up their work. Employing paid leaders and professional staff, who used mainstream tactics as lobbying and forming electoral alliances, created new organizations to guard women's rights.
