Besides happiness, it is important for the person to be successful, not only in his or her career but personal relationships as well. Again, to be successful in personal relationship requires happiness. If one is miserable about themselves, it affects their relationships as well. For example, my friend is not happy with her life. She constantly complains about but does not do anything to make it better either. This causes her to be miserable with everyone because she is not happy with herself. The person also needs to experience life in its good and bad. Without doing this, one cannot learn the difference between the two and neither can learn from it and mature with it. In my own case, I don't feel that I have adequately experienced life for what it is. Due to this, I feel that I have not grown as a person. Since I don't even know what is out there, it is hard for me to decide what is good or bad. Also, it causes me to be nave about things because I don't know any better. A life cannot be of quality if it does not serve any good for the community. It is not enough that a person is happy and successful. One needs to give back to the community in order to be truly successful. Giving back to the community can be in any form, volunteering or even participating in politics. One should be involved in these activities and use it to help others and better the community. It is necessary to have some kind of balance in life. If one is only practical and rational or only creative and emotional, then life does not have any quality. A life of quality would have a balance of both. It is not enough to be just either one of those. This issue is dealt by authors like Lao Tzu and Sigmund Freud. They both talk about how it is important ot have some balance in nature and without that people cannot be happy or have a life of quality. .
A criteria for quality in different activities can never be the same. For example, to look at the criteria for a good lawyer will be different than the good doctor.
