Rock And Classical

As I was growing up, I was not allowed to listen to anything unless it was good old-fashioned gospel music. I heard some occasional country music, but mostly gospel. As I grew older I became exposed to many other kinds of music. First it was Contemporary Christian, and then other types like pop, r&b, soul, jazz, classical, hip hop, blues, and rock and roll. Out of all the music I have heard, only two have been able to tap into my soul "rock and classical. Some of you may be wondering how a person can love both "it would be like serving two masters. I put forth that they are more alike than most people would care to admit. .
First of all, classical artists were the rock artists of their day. They wrote their music to evoke an emotional response from their audience. Their music was written with highs and lows. One moment you're flying with the clouds. The next, you are dashed to the earth by a low. Beethoven was not universally liked when he was alive. Some thought of him as something of a rebel. His music went against the normal. His music was for the most part hard, fast, and bright. It can really move you. He went for the heart. A good rock songwriter will go for the same kind of response.
Rock artists are much the same as classical composers. Rock songwriters will write with a passion that can often only be found in one other kind of music "classical. A good rock song will make one feel like they can do anything. It will make them feel alive. A good classical song will make one feel alive in very much the same way. A good classical song can put someone in a deep contemplative mood. A rock song written with heart with an emotion in mind will put someone into much the same state.
The next thing I would like to bring to my readers' attention is the highs and lows of both types of music. I have heard it said that the highs and lows are what makes classical music so great. The highs and lows in classical music are immediately noticeable.
