Santeria

The person being cleansed must turn his back away as the eggun are asked a question because his fate is being decided by the dead. It is considered dangerous to observe this before a decision is made. The orishas are then asked a question, but since they symbolize life, the person does not have to look away.              CEREMONIES AND RITUALS.
             When a person approaches a santero for a registro, whether it be a divination, a cure, a sacrifice, an invocation, or for other ritual purposes, the client usually pays the santero a fee. This purpose that the fee serves is so that the santero may be able to buy the objects needed for the ritual or ceremony. The money a santero acquires is not enough to make a profit out of which to make a living.
