School Voucher System

            
             The public school system has many traits that a lot of parents would like to see changed. Being a parent myself, I am concerned about the quality of education my children receive. Living in a predominately African American, lower class community the schools in our area do not have all the latest equipment or supplies readily available to give our children the same quality of education that they may receive in other areas that are better off economically. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of schools in my neighborhood that are exemplary schools. These schools only number a few that has actually been able to achieve a high standardized test rating to be classified as schools of better learning. The only problem is that everyone wants their children to go to these schools. These schools can't take everyone's child. So the other parents are forced to take their children to another school that may not have had much success of getting programs in place. The type of programs that help children do better in class and achieve these high test scores on the standardized tests that our public school boards have deemed so important for our children to pass in order to be successful in life. Since we have allowed the school districts to place such a high standard on our children as far as education is concerned wouldn't it only be fair to give them the best possible choices available so that they can meet the rising demand that is set before them each year. Some people would say yes. Some would say yes with a but on the end. Some would even say no. In this paper I plan to look at some of the issues that surround the school voucher programs and discuss the supporting and opposing view of each one.
             First I would like to look at the supporting views to the school voucher program. One of the main reasons why many people support school vouchers is because it give parents of lower socioeconomic status freedom to chose what school their children attend.
