Sex- Actions And Reactions

Proving that women were less then men, its obvious that not only in the working life, social life, family life and also the romance/ sexual life women had little to no say so in the way things were dealt with. Objects containing pictures of women shown indecently or obscenely on objects such as playing cards, boxes, photos or even books, were attempted to be destroyed in this decade for the fear that sex was becoming a more open act. .
During the next decade 1910- 1919, the decade known as the Age of Innocence, became thought of as the End of Innocence. "Popularity for the girls. Masculinity for the boys. The adolescents absorbed new ideals" (Thompson 47). During this decade, women did what they wanted to do; they diverged from what had been previously set for them. They started and joint marches or other forms of protest on things they wanted, such as voting rights, women combined with labor leaders and sometimes even became them themselves. Women began to demand changes in the way their daily lives were ran, Americans, especially males, became fascinated with the charge that women were taking. Unlike the decade prior to this, women were now willingly and permitted to appear on calendars, magazines, books, posters and other objects that contained pictures. Everyone knew of sex, but not until 1913 was it an open topic that Americans felt comfortable hearing about, talking about, or even taking part in. Though women still revolved their lives around social and extra curricular activities, they began to open their minds more then ever before. The trend of becoming more and more open to things people had never even questioned being open to before continued to mature throughout the years. .
Following the Age of Innocence, was the decade of 1920- 1929. Speed, not the drug but the verb meaning hustle, became a factor in people's lives that had never been an issue before. Things began to speed up; people wanted more and were rushing to obtain the things they were seeking.
