It is said in general that as the pregnant woman has food cravings, the male partner has a strong craving for dairy products. Many expectant fathers experience a sense of anxiety about being the protector, nurturer and provider for his new family. The birthing experience gives the father an especially new role. It gives him a lift on becoming attached to his baby and own feelings about his infant child. It seems that the attachment between the infant and new father is a powerful one.
Prenatal testing.
Prenatal testing is when a physician checks an expectant mother on the health of her baby at about six weeks after conception. Women who are good candidates for prenatal diagnoses are women with a family history of genetic diseases, exposure to infection such as Rubella; which can cause birth defects. .
In more than ninety-five percent of cases, prenatal diagnoses turn out with no apparent abnormalities. But there are a few cases where there is something wrong the baby, which leads to other options such as continuing the pregnancy or, terminating the pregnancy.
If a woman chooses to have her baby, it may be that she opposes abortion and wants the baby to get the professional help that he/she needs. However, a woman may also want to terminate the pregnancy because of birth defects. In order to terminate the fetus the defects have to be examined carefully to determine repeat future pregnancy abnormalities. Prenatal treatment of the fetus is available in only a few instances. Treatment may consist of a blood transfusion, administrative enzymes, or medication.

If diagnosis indicates that the fetus is not capable with life, such as when all or most of the brain is missing it is possible to donate organs that the infant needs. But, not all high-tech prenatal diagnosis is perfect. All results should be confirmed by a consultant or further testing.
Ultrasonography has made pregnancies a much less worrisome experience.
