Leonce Ponteilier-Edna's husband-He is of Creole descent, which plays a factor in his view of how his wife should act. He does not know exactly what is going on with his wife.
Robert Leborn-a young flirt at the Grand Isle-His mother is the owner of the cottage that the Ponteiliers live in. Robert and Edna fall in love. He went to Mexico because of this fact. He helps Edna realize she is unhappy with her life. He ran away when things got tough.
Adele Ratignolle-Edna's friend-Edna finds her very beautiful. Indore her hands. She does not want to see Edna's children hurt. She is the example of how a wife and a mother should act. She dies in the book.
Mademoiselle Reisz-The exact opposite of Adele-She plays an important role in Edna's awakening. She is the pianist that Edna loves to hear. Edna takes comfort in listening to her play. She is an unusual character that is often misunderstood.
Alcee Arobin-Mr. Arobin is madly in love with Edna, but she does not feel the same way about him.
