The Root Glass Company of Terre Haute, Indiana, presented the Contour shaped bottle to the Coca-Cola Company and it was a huge success.
By the 1920's, there were more than 1,000 Coca-Cola bottling companies in the United States. Chief executive officer and chairman of the Board, Robert Woodruff, started thinking about taking the operations internationally. Soon, bottling plants began operations in France, Guatemala, Mexico, Italy, Honduras, Belgium, and South Africa. .
Later, in the 1950's, Coca-Cola began giving consumers more size options. Prior to this time, consumers could only purchase the 6.5 ounce Contour bottle. Now sizes such as the 10-, 12-, and 26-ounce versions are available. Soon after, cans were introduced; giving consumers yet another option when enjoying their favorite beverage.
During the 1960's, new brands such as Sprite, Fanta, TAB, and Fresca were introduced; followed by Mello Yello and Mr. Pibb in the 1970's.Diet Coke and Cherry Coke were added in the 1980's. After this, Coca-Cola began thinking of new and innovative ways to make sure that all consumers, whether national or international, were having their tastes for certain beverages fulfilled. I personally think that is one of the main reasons that the Coca-Cola Company has been so successful on a global level. .
Today, the Coca-Cola company has added many more well known name brands to its "portfolio". Some include A&W, Bicardi Mixers, Barq's, Canda Dry, Dannon, Disani Water, Crush, Evian, and Fruitopia. Others are Hi-C, Minute Maid, Nestea, Powerade, Sunkist, and most recently Vanilla Coke. .
According to its main website, the objective of the Coca-Cola Company today is to bring refreshment, value, fun, and joy to the stakeholders. Then they make sure that they do all that they can to nurture and protect their logo and brand names. They feel that that is something that must be done in order "to provide consistently attractive returns to the owners" of their business.
