This book is by far the greatest book I have ever read. This book is filled with mystery it makes you want to skip the whole book to see what happens at the end. It is so exciting and there is not one dull or boring part in the whole book. Some parts are completely scary that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I recommend this book to anyone on a seventh grade reading level and above.
The scariest part in the book, and also my favorite, is when Annie Wilkes cuts off Paul Sheldon's feet. The description was perfect for the scene. I felt as if I was actually in the room with them. It was really frightening and very thrilling. I was confused at first about what was going on, but I quickly learned and I was stunned. That was definitely my favorite part in the book.
Paul Sheldon was a writer who got into an accident on a windy road during the winter. Annie Wilkes, an ex-nurse, who is "his biggest fan", saved him. She is insane and yells about everything. Paul is intensely terrified by her. Annie once got mad over spilt food. She had yelled at Paul and threw the bowl across the room. Blaming everything on Paul, she started to clean it up with water. After she was finished Paul had needed his painkillers very badly. She gave them to him but he had to drink them down with the dirty water she used to clean up the food with. He nearly threw up but he kept it down because he knew he needed the painkillers in his system.
Another time Annie had gotten mad was when she finished reading Paul's book. At the end of the book she read, he favorite character had died. She was fuming and called Paul a murderer and that he killed an innocent girl. That's when Paul first knew that she was a lunatic. She had told him to write a new book called Misery's Return and that it would be dedicated to her. She went out and bought all the supplies that he needed to write the book.
