In this paper I will discuss the important issues related to gangs that I have chosen to do research on. I am going to give solutions to the problems from our short stories that I have read this week, and also criticize the authors" point of view. Furthermore, I am going to answer the questions being raised by the authors", by showing good solutions or points that I have found in some articles while I was researching. To conclude it all I will show who is responsible for the uprise in gangs in our communities and also share some of my own personal experiences with gangs.
The essay from our reader Luis Rodriguez "La Vida Loca" shows us the two life-lines of two gang members. Luis joined a gang back when he was only thirteen years old. I believe that Luis was tired of being lonely, unpopular, and having no friends that he believed that the best solution for him was to go and join a gang. He also wanted to be able to have enough power to control the school, and have people obey his orders. He was actively involved with the Three Mystics for five years until he was eighteen, when he saw the brighter picture and decided to leave the gang. By this time Luis had seen already twenty five of his friends die of gang activities. Now at this point of his life he has a wife and two sons, one of the age of two and one of the age of fifteen from a former marriage. He purposely moved from Los Angeles to the city of Chicago to move away from the streets that are controlled by gangs. He didn't want any of his two children to live the life that he went through while he was a kid. But sooner or later he found out his son joined a .

Latin gang. His son Ramiro was part of a gang called the Insane Campbell boys. One night he had to chase his son from sneaking out but wasn't able to catch his son. Ramiro was gone for two weeks after that night and when he returned he got some valuable lessons learned and stopped messing with the gang after that incident.
