Nobody I surveyed really knows much of anything about Greek Mythology; according to the answers to my survey. I surveyed six individuals to find the answers I was looking for. I surveyed two male sophomores in high school, one was sixteen years old, and the other was fifteen. I asked three co-workers the same questions, one was a thirty-three year old female with an associate’s degree, and the other was a forty year old male with two years of college experience. The last co-worker I surveyed was a seventeen year old female high school student. The surveys with everyone went smoothly and took no time at all.
It seems that all the answers were pretty consistent. The three people I surveyed from high school knew very few of the answers to my questions. Out of the three, none of them knew the answer to the question “Can you retell the myth of Oedipus?” None of the High School students were able to answer the question “Who was Narcissus?” Also, out of the three of them, n
I found out that with the wide spread of ages I surveyed: the answers were all the same. I truly believe that as the years go on, the myths get pushed back. Fewer and fewer people remember them and less people teach them. Unless you are currently studying Greek Myths in school, they are easy to forget.
