Family - A Web of Bonds

Family is a word of such complexity, so many interpretations, yet still left undefined. The dilemma in defining such a word is, that there is no one universal meaning to it. There are so many types of "families"" in modern day society, where everyone is free to express themselves and live in a global melting pot, that there is no criteria that fits all. More often than not, people perceives this word as the "traditional family,"" a married man and woman with children living under the same roof. In the United States today, not every family fits under the traditional category standards. The new definition of family should be any individuals with a special bond and intricate relationship.
The traditional families' prominent two members should always be a male and a female. The mother and father were married in a Christian church, and after marriage they decided to have children. The father provides most of the income and is the breadwinner while the mother is a homemaker. When the families hard working dad comes home from work, his lovely wife has a prepared meal ready for him. This cliche' is seen in the past even in "The Flintstones," "The Honeymooners," and many more shows. This set of guidelines is complete rubbish. In the fantasy world of a traditional marriage there is no controversy and these guidelines are not to be tampered with. Most modern day families do not fit this category, which is why the traditional family guidelines are irrelevant. Some children are raised by one parent, with two same-sex parents, a step-father, an aunt and uncle, or two best friends.   The multi-award-winning sitcom "Modern Family" has an amazing critical reception for attracting a melody of audience members. Mitchell and Cam's modern family literally sets a great example of what the "modern family"" really is. They are a gay couple who are raising their adopted Vietnamese daughter, Lily, but none of those factors affect their relationship.
