Tour of the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH)

The night before our much awaited tour is the feeling of excitement but I'm a little bit nervous too because we will meet people with mental disorders and to see what life they have inside the mental hospital and of course how we will be going to interact with them. And it's so interesting. And this is the day. It's March 26 when I experienced a very memorable event. Even though it's my first time to go to mental hospital, I felt very happy and very excited. Before the bus arrive at National Center for Mental Health, there are lots of things that came into my mind. Asking questions to myself like "What's inside the mental hospital?", "How do they interact with each other?" And there's one thing that always come up to my mind when I hear "Mental Hospital"- "Kapag mental hospital, parang lalong lumalala ang mga pasyente dahil mga baliw din ang kasama nila." And our adventure started.
We went to National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) that is established in 1928, before we enter the gate, we stopped there for a minute. While we're waiting, I together with my bus mates, we all saw a girl at the second floor that is singing and she is totally naked. We are not surprised because it's mental hospital. Our tour guide named "Rhona", said that we can only walk around at the first floor of Pavilion 3, wherein female patients are there. It's called "Acute Adult for Female Ward." As I've said earlier, we can only walk around at first floor because in that floor, the patients there are with mild cases. And we are prohibited to go up to second floor because the patients there are with severe cases and still in medication. Actually, patients at first floor can stitch because their care givers are teaching them. They sell stitched hand made things like key chains, and they sell earrings too. And when we are talking to them, it seems like that they are not patients and just a normal people.
