Music and Math
Mathematics and music play very different roles in society. They are both very unique. However, they are more closely related to each other than they are commonly perceived to be. They can be related in many different shapes and forms. This paper identifies such links and concludes with the insight that music often has some mathematical characteristics and, more importantly, that artistic aspects can be found in mathematics as well. In this paper, I plan to demonstrate the fundamental basics of music and how it is related to math. While doing my research I can across many of the harder equations which I have decided not to include in my essay. I feel that the basic understanding of music and math is needed first and are the most important characteristics that link the two together. As Charity Kahn once said, “ Music gives beauty and another dimension to mathematics by giving life and emotion to the numbers and patterns. Most students in college dislike math. For most, it is an enigma, which is characterised by the impression of numbers and calculations taught at school. It is also accompanied by feelings of rejection and disinterest, and it is believed to be strictly rational, abstract, cold and boring! But, Mus

For example, a good song on the radio could change your depressed mood and leave you feeling powerful and joyful. Music has an intense power to change one’s attitude.
