1. Compare/Contrast Inca and Mayan's
In the two stories called "Cold Equations" and "Boys and Girls" they both have to make many dramatic decisions. Many of them were influenced by the main character. What would you do if you had to jettison a teenage girl in to space because she snuck on to an EDS to see her brother she hasn't seen in years? Would if you had to take your moms side because she wanted you to be like her? In both stories they have to make these kinds of decisions. This will tell there ways of handling it and how there similar.
The narrator in "Boys and Girls" didn't like the fact she was suppose to work inside. She enjoyed working outside with her father. But her mother wanted her to work inside like any other girl would. In "Cold Equations" the guy had to decide to take the girls reasoning or take his life and many others depending on him. He felt guilty and upset for having to do it; she always talked about how much she just wanted to see her brother she hadn't seen for years. But the other way would end up killing more than just her, including him.
In "Cold Equations" the teenager asks to talk to her brother over the radio before she is jettisoned. They can't get a hold of him right away because he's out on a mission. There are only a few minutes before he has to jettison her and still have enough fuel to make it. He had to make the decision to wait long enough to have her be able to talk her brother. In "Boys and Girls" the narrator says how it's easier to see it then hear about it. Well in that story she made the decision to want to sneak into the barn and watch her dad kill the horse. Kind of like the teenager in "Cold Equations" decided to talk to her brother before she died. .
Towards the end of both stories each character is faced with a critical decision. Both of them had already dealt with a number of decisions. In "Boys and Girls" the horse got loose when her dad was going to kill it. It was up to her to close the gate to trap the horse.
