Gun Violence

Gun Violence Amongst Our Younger Generation.
If you recently picked up a newspaper or turned on to see the news you may have questioned to yourself what is happening in our schools and begin to think whether our schools and neighborhoods are a safe place for our children. As Americans, we are faced with an ever-growing problem of violence. Our streets have become a battleground where teenage gangsters shoot it out for territorial turf to sell their drugs and innocent children are caught daily in the crossfire of drive by shootings. American's can't keep ignoring the damage that these criminals are doing to our society, and must take action to stop these horrors we are surrounded by daily. However, the effort by some misguided individuals to eliminate the legal ownership of guns does not address the real problems at hand and simply disarms the innocent law-abiding citizens who are most in need of a form of self-defense.
Today's gun control activists are a slightly different group of people. They claim that gun violence in this country has gotten to a point where something must be done to stop it. They would like to see these criminals disarmed and they want the random violence to stop. Although they have a point, they are going about it the wrong way. While claiming that they want to take guns out of the hands of criminals they work to pass laws that would take the guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens instead. For this reason the effort at gun control does not address the real problem of gun crime. .
Guns are more available today than they were in the 1970's and 1980's. Even though gun control laws might help some people to feel better and safe, it will not stop the person who intends to hurt someone. .
The Second Amendment gives citizens the "right to bear arms." I believe that it should read, "Only responsible adults who meet the requirements may posses guns" but instead it means once you are born you can purchase a gun and take anyone's life.
