Virus scanning today seems to be a basic security measure taken by all online businesses, figure 1 shows that ninety percent are using virus scanning. Essentially viruses can do little harm to a computer system but they can also cause a great deal of destruction, in some instances altering information, wiping or corrupting hard drives which contain important information. Since email has become a major way of communicating, hackers are creating and programming viruses to cause havoc, attaching themselves to email and replicating themselves into address books, viruses are easily being spread over the internet. Therefore it is vital that any e-commerce business has the latest version of a virus scanner so that they lower the risk of their system becoming infected. When a transaction has been made customers and clients need to reassured that the transaction has gone through. People can worry, especially when money transactions occur that money has been credited to a wrong account or to some other site. So businesses need to know a minute after a transaction that the transfer has occurred successfully, and to where it has been transferred.
