Bible- Only Inspired Word Of God?
Christianity, Judaism, Islam and many other religions have always claimed that the teachings of certain prophets or holy people are special revelations from God. (C. Stephan Evans, Philosophy of Religion, p.97.) How do we know that the Bible is the only inspired word of God? What evidence is there to support that? Is it possible that other works can be inspired as well? What New Issues Has Your Research Raised for You? Many issues arose while doing research on the topic of whether or not the Bible is the only inspired word of God. Mainly being the question of how in depth should one look into other religious works or religions? Once you determine the Bible to be true and inspired by God, why even look into other options such as the Koran, the Book of Mormon, etc.? Many non-Christians claim to have legitimate religious experiences with a higher power, just as Christians do. So why overlook the fact that these people are really experiencing something and not look into their beliefs? We say that reading the Bible has the power to change lives and show people the way to salvation, yet people say the same thing about other works. To determine which religion is right is it okay to read t
Beyond evidence from the Bible that other works are not inspired by God, we look at the other religions themselves, and quotations from those works. Take the Koran for example. The Koran claims to be inspired from God and in Sura 18:1-2 it states that it contains no contradictions. Yet the Koran consistently disagrees with the Bible, mainly that it denies that Jesus was ever crucified (Sura 4:157). It is easily seen that Koran does contain contradictions and in contrast, the Bible is accurate in every way. After two thousand years of attacks by scoffers, not one legitimate mistake has been found (Eric Lyons, M.Min., The Bible Versus The Koran). After reviewing the Koran and other religious books, it becomes clear that they are anything but books revealed by God. They are based only upon what one or few people saw and heard. Once the conclusion has been drawn that the Bible is inspired and everything in it is true, it is quite evident that no other work can also be the inspired word of God. If we hold the Bible as being true, we look at verses such as Revelation 22:18-19 when considering other works. "I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book: and if anyone takes away from the words of this book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book."
