Writing, overall, is a process that can be difficult for some people and easy for others. My judgment on writing depends on the particular assignment. If I have to write a paper that comes straight from my head such as past experience or the future, I have no problem sitting down and writing it. But if the paper has to do with reading and interpreting the reading, I struggle a little. If the readings are short and simple, then writing my paper on it would be a breeze. If the readings are long, I get tired of reading and my mind gets off the reading and on something else. .
As soon as the teacher hands out the paper assignment several things run through my brain. "Will this paper be easy?", "Will I get it done in time?", and "How will I get started?", are some of the questions that go through my exhausted brain. After my brain is through processing those questions, I read over the assignment and start to think how long this will take me to write. Well usually the teacher doesn't let you get started right away so I get out of class and go about the rest of my day not thinking about the paper again. When I get home I usually don't think about it until I have absolutely nothing else to do. When I manage to have absolutely nothing to do, including nothing on television interesting to watch, I make my way over to my English notebook and open it. Inside is where I will find the assignment, lonely and in the same place I put it the day I received it. This process usually takes place within the week that it is due. It doesn't matter if the paper is one page or ten pages; I always wait till what seems like the last minute. .
When I finally start, I have to read the assignment over and over again before it sinks into my brain. When it sinks in, if it is something that can come from my head I just start writing about the subject. I rarely prewrite if the assignment doesn't involve reading. If I do prewrite on this assignment, I will just write things on a piece of paper that comes to my mind about the assignment.
