The Atkins Diet: A Dietitian's Debate

As one of the most popular diets within the American public, the Atkins diet has stirred up an appalling amount of questions among dietetic scientists. Dr. Robert C. Atkins has managed to conjure up a diet that promises results, boosts energy levels and allows you to eat your favorite foods. Numerous success stories gloat of extreme weight loss in nearly no time at all. Now does that sound appealing? Of course it does. For this cause, several nutritionists are rapidly striking at Atkins" methodology. Scientists claim it to be unbalanced, unnatural, and even hazardous to your health. Should anybody just jump on the bandwagon then? Only if they know all the facts.
Through various success stories and simplicity of the diet, Dr. Atkins is able grab the attention of all dieters and convince them to jump on the bandwagon. For the safety of the public though, nutrition specialists worldwide tactfully warn all dieters of Atkins" method through logos. Clearly one cannot be sure of a diet just because people say they like it, but rather need to know the health factors that the diet can play upon oneself first.
Over thirty years ago, Atkins discovered the body's ability to turn into a fat burning machine through ultra-low intakes of carbohydrates and starchy fruits and vegetables (such as potatoes and corn), and bulking up on high-protein foods. He has been able to convince several of my friends that this diet was the solution to fitness, and even pulled myself in for a short period of time. For several years I have been into weight lifting and keeping my body tone. His methodology pulled me right in with his high-protein weight loss system. At first glance, you might think it's an oxymoron, but in reality, it's a weightlifter's dream come true. I was able to discover the facts myself and knew that it just wasn't quite worth it. I leaned more towards common science knowledge.
The basis of the ultra-low carbohydrate diet is based upon the reaction the body has.
