In today's world, everyone fights for order and justice to be done. Also, for our youth and tomorrows rulers, we attempt to make them as civilized as possible so our world will be in good hands. One way the authority of today does this is by trying to influence uniforms on as many schools as possible.
They feel this will help to cut back on school yard fights and will stop kids from segregating themselves from others because of how they dress. It also has supposedly been proven to help in test scores in the sense that students can focus more on their studies then what they are going to wear the next day. If everyone is similarly dressed, it will also help pupils to focus on the actual class testing. If someone is dressed brightly and attracts attention, it might be hard for others to focus on what they are doing. .
Personally, I am 100% for self-expression and as you might be able to tell that this could arouse a problem for me. I would never send my kid to a school where they made it mandatory to dress or look how they want you to. If my kid would want to where something bizarre or different than normal, than I would let him/her. If he wanted to have a Mohawk, I would let him. This is not coming from someone with no responsibility, or no idea what its like to be a parent. I would let him/her look however they wanted as long as they treated every one with the equal amount of respect, had a rather decent GPA and did what their mother and I ask them to. I will not provoke it. I would simply encourage the self-expression factor whatever it may be. .
Dress codes and more specifically uniforms seem to appear as quite forbidding of this. My theory is the more you restrict a child, the more they will rebel when they get the opportunity to do so. .
