A little nervous, I decided to stay involved. .
Governor was the first office I ran for. This was the toughest speech I had to give. I didn't really know what people were looking for in a governor of a mythical state. It didn't go so well, and I think the citizens could sense my uncertainty. Needless to say, I didn't make ballot. .
Next was the office of Secretary of State. After reading the description of this title, I jotted down a few notes. It was time to take another stab at it. Once again, I didn't disguise my fidgeting very well, and again, I was denied a spot on the ballot. .
By this point I figured, "Why stop now?" So I got back up and ran for Secretary of Agriculture. I felt more confident about this race considering my FFA and Ag class background. I gave it my best shot and, again, didn't get on the ballot. .
At this point I decide I must be doing something wrong. I chose to sit the Auditor of State race fro a spot on the ballot out. My friend, Carolyn, did make it though. .
I picked up a few pointers and chose to get back up and try to get on the ballot for Treasurer of State. After convincing them of my math skills and responsibility, I finally got on the ballot to be the federalist candidate. Now I had to prepare for the party rally.
At the party rally I had to convince the Federalist Party why, when we narrowed it down to one candidate, I should be the one. I didn't really know because the other girl was just as qualified, but I gave it a shot. I spoke about the many things I have helped organize in my school and community. This was to give them examples of how I keep things organized and budgeted. They mustn't have been impressed though because I didn't get on the final state ballot. That was O.K. though because we still needed a Lt. Governor. .
Lt. Governor was my last chance to have a state title. I had really wanted to earn a job since I had started the week. To do so I felt that I had to put everything I had left in my heart out there for the other girls to judge.
