Gaston

As quoted, "Remember everyone that you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something." Gaston in the story "Gaston" by William Saroyan is a creature that lives inside a flawed peach, as well as the father, daughter, and mother are all characters in this short story. The plot is set the fathers apartment in Paris, where the child has come to visit her father after a long time has gone bye. The theme all revolves around this flawed peach that the child wants so bad after learning about Gaston and will not eat any other peach that they bought. .
It all started of one sunny, hot August afternoon, in Paris. The little or what seemed to be a young girl had come to meet up with her father. It seemed that the girl had not seen her father in a long time, and he could possibly be a stranger or what seemed to be one to her. They were on a mission to eat peaches so when they found some, so they went to a store and bought some. Once at home they were just sitting together at a table ready to eat peaches, she picked hers and he picked his, the "bad" peach. .
In this story there is something very special about peaches that they are trying to get across. The one "bad" peach that her father somewhat insisted on eating was a special peach. He described it to his daughter as being "almost the size of a tennis ball, nice red fading green, but where the stem had been there was now a break that went straight down into the heart of the seed." No one seemed excited that this peach was different until suddenly some feelers appeared. The creature pulled itself out of the peach seed and walked onto the plate, the name of the "seed dweller" was Gaston said her father. The little girl can't understand why her father won't through away the peach and kill the bug! The father explains to the child that now Gaston has no home, and that he will probably not be able to live in his house happily.
