My Mother

It took me nineteen years to realize what an extraordinary influence my mother has been on my life. She's the kind of person who always has time for her kids; always interested in learning something new, would sacrifice herself for her family, and is easily the strongest woman in my eyes. Growing up, I know I haven"t been the best son in the world but if you were to ask her, she would say otherwise. Looking back, my mom is the most positive and important influence on my life.
An example of her positive influence is her work ethic. Although I am not a hard worker in any way, shape, or form, she drives me to achieve what I want or need everyday of the week. If you want any indication of how hard a worker she is, you don"t have to look any farther than her lifestyle. My mom is an early to rise, late to bed kind of person. Between going to work eight hours a day five days a week, she also finds the time to clean the house, cook food, do the laundry, workout, and spend time sewing clothes. At one point, she attended school and worked full time as well.
As if working as hard as she does isn"t enough, my mom also loves to learn. Nothing proves this more than her desire to finish school and obtain a degree. When I was still in jr. high, she revealed to us that she was going back to school for her degree. Her chosen major was nursing which is one of the most difficult programs to be accepted into. Silencing all of her critics, she was accepted to the nursing program at UTPA. Contrary to many other students, she was always anxious for her next class. My mom had defied all the odds and was not only in the nursing program but she excelled in it earning a "B" average while working to help support a family. She would have finished the program but she had my little sister and had to withdraw from it because taking care of my little sister was a bigger priority. Although she will have to start over, she will attend school again next semester for an accounting degree.
