Case study of Levis Jeans adverts

The camera then zooms out from this medium shot and on the way to an unknown destination you see the entrance of the club protected by a bouncer and a person in the soon to be background being rejected from entering the club for wearing the wrong dress code. The harsh expression on the bouncer's face already portrays the bouncer as a strict and stern man who is proud of his job. We then get a view of the road with a 50's car drive past introducing diegetic sound into the present quiet scene and then the non diegetic song "Stand by me- starts playing. The camera (still moving) then stops on a close-up of a smooth, tall man with a half rebellious smile on his face. A railway crossing sign in the mise en scene behind the man is lit red and ringing also bringing diegetic sound to the rather still background. The rather slick looking man then walks freely across the road past a moody cloud and steam filled background that looks just like a fake fifties set towards the club. The man stands out wearing a cream white jacket on a somewhat miserable background. As he waltzes through the door the bouncer stops him and a close-up of the man is given with a "NO JEANS- sign on the wall and an unmoved and unconvinced look is given on the bouncer's face. The man trying to enter the club then smiles back with a pleased look on his face because he just got in. As a viewer you are still not aware why he is pleased. He enters the club until he stops, a close-up of his hand reaching into his back pocket is shown and the jeans are black explaining the advert up till now. He swipes the comb backwards through his hair once and a shot of a woman biting her lip is shown with a giant red "HOT- sign behind her. Obviosly hinting at a potential love match. We then get one last shot of the man walking further into the club looking pleased with his work of impressing the woman. .
The production of this advert is well made and the use of lighting in the "HOT- and rail crossing sign flashing red tied in well with the steam in the background and the general theme of the adverts that is sex.
