The first activity that toddlers of 20 months do on a monthly basis will be a fire drill. The children are told that it is time for a safe fire drill exercise we will then ring the fire alarm. The children are lead to the back door where we exit in a quick fashion way.
Practicing fire drills in a monthly base will prepare the child and us all to exit my home safely In the event of an emergency.
Materials needed: Have all the children coats and hats near by during winter months.
The second activity for toddlers will learn to paint safely. Using nontoxic paint and a q-Up, at a medium size table, they are allowed to explore the touch of paint on themselves or on the table, and their own paper. I will keep a close watch on all the children, teaching them how to handle materials appropriately.
Materials needed: Table or a flat surface, nontoxic paint, q-Ups, and lots of color paper.
The preschoolers are more verbal and I explain to them why they should not run why that are eating, or why It is not a good Idea to throw rocks outside, or that popular pushing on the slide can make someone fall and hurt themselves. The first activity that we can do often is a vision of "Stop drop and roll. My preschoolers understand that a fire can hurt, se we will practice monthly hot to stop drop and roll. This Is always an action that is moving toward the back door. It teaches them how to stay safe if there is a fire or smoke alarm goes off In the room.

Second activity: The children are told repeatedly to hold on to the rail when descending staircase leaving and returning from the yard. I will remain close by at all times.
