Some of the different types of wireless communication technologies include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, infrared, GPS and cellular and satellite technology just to name a few.
             Wi-Fi is the most popular and widely used form of wireless technology. It is in smart phones, laptops, tablets, and ultra books. When using Wi-Fi a router is used to link devices to the internet. Wi-Fi networks transmissions are very low power therefore their range is limited. When using Wi-Fi in order to connect to the network users must be in close proximity to a router. So for example if you are using a laptop or other device in a public place in order to connect to the internet you would have to find a Wi-Fi hot-spot which is using a network adapter or be close to a router. Blue tooth technology is also a low power and short range technology. Devices such as cell phone service use Bluetooth devices. .
             Satellite technology is a form of wireless technology that is widely used. Satellite technology is utilized in most homes as cable companies utilize satellite technology to transmit signals delivering cable television programming to homes across the world. Telephone services use this form of wireless technology to deliver phone services to both cell and home phones. Infrared technology is a form of wireless technology used in devices such as remote controls. Infrared (IR) wireless technology uses light instead of radio for its connectivity. Infrared is low-frequency, invisible light that can serve as a carrier of high-speed digital data. GPS OR Global Positioning System is also a popular form of wireless technology. GPS is a great technology; it uses satellite to provide location and time information to get us where we need to go. .
