The High Price of Bottled Water

Water from far distances and sodas are not necessary and in fact those behaviors are wasting our natural resource and labor. In another case, we also take a lot of sources to produce sodas. For instance, in the consumer report "Coca Cola Company's Abuses in India, " the author states the fact that "it takes 3.7 liters of water to produce 1 liter of Coke." Moreover, statistic shows "as of 2004, 2/3 of the water used by Coke was converted to waste water. Since Americans are seeking for a better living level, we spend more money and resources to live in comfort, which is not necessary. .
Other than individual's behavior, a lot of companies are overusing water and resources.
The invisible cost of Americans' consumption habits is something we didn't learn at school. In Americans' mind, over-consumption is nothing about water, but the truth is overuse and over consuming products are invisible costs of water. According to the book "The Story of Stuff " by Anne Leonard, she mentioned the cost of invisible water, "Consider the fact that paper-making plants use 300 to 400 tons of water to make 1 ton of paper, if non of the water is reused or recirculated. Growing the cotton for one T-shirt requires 256 gallons of water." Many people never imagine that every product we bought is relating to water. .
Moreover, there have more invisible cost of bottled water. Once the bottle is created and filled with water, it is delivered to stores by means of ground transportation. Some bottled water is transported long distances by ship in addition to the distances it travels by truck or rail. The fresh water used to manufacture and fill bottles is a renewable resource, however the fuel used to manufacture and deliver the bottles of water is not a renewable resource, and it is a fossil fuel. Even though most companies do incorporate recycled material into producing the bottles, the fact is that we recycle only 20% of our 1.
