Please plan accordingly, especially as the semester gets under way.
TECHNOLOGY POLICY.
As enhanced communication technologies become available to consumers, it becomes important to clarify appropriate use of these technological tools in the classroom.
Cell Phone Policy. Please turn off your cell phone prior to the start of class. Please speak to the instructor if you are expecting an emergency call. Otherwise the expectation is that students will not be taking or making calls on their cell phones during class time.
Texting, Instant Messaging, MP3s and other technology devices. Simply put, these devices and behaviors are not appropriate for use during class. These devices need to be put away prior to the start of class. They or any other technology device is not allowed during class or exams. These devices will be taken from the individual and may serve as evidence of academic misconduct in some situations. .
**Students wishing to use laptops during class need to receive approval to do so from the instructor.
QUIZZES.
There will be seven (7) quizzes over the span of the course. Each quiz will be worth 10 points. The majority (but not all) of the chapters have a quiz associated with them. Quiz days and the chapter being covered are listed on the tentative course schedule. Quizzes will take place at the start of the class day. These quizzes will be administered verbally, so prompt attendance on these days is critical. If a student arrives midway through a quiz, this student may not request that earlier questions be repeated. Once a quiz has been taken by the class, students will be unable to take a quiz late. Unforeseen circumstances need to be approved and arranged with the instructor. Students will keep their top five (5) quiz scores. Total points = 50.

SPEECHES.
