Tasting Foods

The worst meal I ever had was a combination of many unknowns. In my Spanish class we planned a fieldtrip to a restaurant called La Haciendas. Don't get it wrong I love Mexican food such as tacos and burritos, it was just this one entrée in particular. .
It was twelve o' clock and our whole third period class had crossed the street to this so called fabulous restaurant. So the menu came and this meal caught my eyes, sautéed chicken fried with rice, topped with three different cheese, served with mushrooms and special sauce, there were more but I couldn't remember. You would think that the most expensive thing on the menu is the most delicious one. I disproved my own theory. Here comes the chef still frying my chicken in the pan while tossing it in the air with flames on it and everything, the type of stuff you only see on television. And so here comes my dish, I didn't know weather it was leftovers or sloppy joes because everything was so messy. I had suddenly forgotten what I've ordered so I turned to my teacher and asked her if this was the food I ordered, she was sure it was. I'm not scared to try different things so I dug in, still a little confused of weather I should use the fork or spoon and where to begin. The first bite barely made it down my throat, it tasted like a bitter sponge that has been used over and over. Then I started being picky and separated the food. I was trying to eat the rice but couldn't tell the difference between whatever it was that was on my plate. My teacher Mrs. Miller, saw my encounter with this strange food and looked very oddly at me. She was Hispanic and we were in a Hispanic environment, so to be polite and respectful I endured this pain and took a couple more bites. When she asked me if it tasted good I didn't reply because I couldn't say "no- and at the same time couldn't say "yes-. After loosing feeling of my tongue due to the taste or temperature I couldn't tell, I was the first to ask for a "to-go- box.
