The course was last offered in Spring 2012, and Gannon University is planning to provide the course again in Spring 2014. Since Spring 2012, many changes have occurred in the security field. These rapid changes require updates to the course material. This project aims to update this course and the labs and assignments used for this lab in such a way as to include marketable, value-added education, and be worth the expenses students paid. Moreover, the project will identify the latest subjects in the security field and upgrade the old course labs in order to improve course outcomes.
1.2 Curriculum Scope .
The theme of this project is to perform the analysis to update the current course and systems in CIS department with the new technology. This will allow the department to give students updated material and updated labs for this course. This material and system will be according to the latest security systems and networks that are developed in recent times or are being developed. This project will provide the students to obtain latest study material, and they will be able to learn the latest technologies that are being used in the industry and the market, and they will be able to get the full value of what they have paid for this course. The systems in the labs will be provided with the latest operating systems. In the course new threats, viruses, spyware, malware and other things will be added. It will offer students a current awareness of the issues and challenges associated with the latest technology. The updated course materials will help the course instructor to teach marketable information and will keep and retain students in the technology domain. Moreover, the new course materials will allow the instructor to provide valuable lab experiences to the students.
The course reviews standard computer security for desktop and server-based systems. Coverage includes network security issues and techniques.
