Individual Reflection - Working in a Classroom Group

Working in a classroom group, I realized that motivation is a major aspect that people require to facilitate their working and coexisting together. The main aim of a group is to use synergy to produce the best results as a group, after efforts from all the members. This means that every individual in the group has to contribute wholeheartedly towards the group, and the activities of the group. For this to happen there is the need for there to be motivation in the group. However, one major challenge for most groups, ours included, is usually how to keep all members motivated. .
When we joined the university and were assigned into groups, we seldom knew each other. Although most people would have rather been assigned groups with people they had befriended, this did not happen. We had to settle for people we had not met before. At first, things did not set off very well. We had a few interpersonal and communication challenges. However, our group leader made sure that we co-existed peacefully. He made sure that we met often, to make sure that we understand each other perfectly well. We also adopted a way of communication, where every person was expected to be friendly to others in the group. For example, we made friendly introductions and made every person in the group know most things about us that mattered. Our communication as a group was also facilitated by our formation of virtual groups on social media platforms, something that made sure that all members of the group socially interacted well. We soon became friends, something that motivated us to work together, and to meet often (Hogg, 1994). .
In our group, focus was never lost. Although we faltered at times, we came back to work together as a group. Through virtual group meetings, we made sure that every person in the group was aware of our group discussions, and motivated each other to do research on different issues that would form our group discussion.
