Similarities in Bradford's and Bradstreet's Writing

 

            Bradford and Bradstreet's Similarities.
             During the time of 1590 to 1672 two American writers William Bradford and Anne Bradstreet wrote some of the best works of there time. Neither writer was born in America, in fact, they both were born in England. Both writers persevered through the tough times they had at first and made America their home. Today three similarities between these writers will be discussed. The first of which will be on their religious beliefs.
             Both Bradford and Bradstreet were Puritans and religion was a very large priority in there lives. Bradford was born in England, and at the age of 12 was already deeply involved in reading the Bible. His family was against this because Puritans were put in prison in England, so Bradford moved with other Puritans to Holland. Feeling nearly the same in Holland as he did in England, Bradford along with a bunch of other Puritans decided to move to America . Bradstreet grew up in a Puritan household. Her father was a nobleman, and like her husband he held the position of Governor in Massachusetts . That is how Bradford and Bradstreet are similar in their religious beliefs.
             Next, there are similarities in what Bradford and Bradstreet wrote about. Bradford, like Bradstreet, wrote about his experiences in the colonies. Bradford talks about his experience during the starving time, and his relations with the Indians in Of Plymouth Plantation . Bradstreet writes about her house burning down, an experience the occurred on July 10th, 1666 . This is how Bradford and Bradstreet are similar in writing about their experiences in the colonies. .
             Finally, there are the similarities in the loss of loved ones. Both writes lost loved ones, and they wrote about their losses in there writings. Bradford has record of his wife's death in Of Plymouth Plantation . Bradstreet has record of her grandchildren's deaths in her poems . This is how Bradford and Bradstreet are similar in writing about there losses of loved ones.
