The Risks and Benefits of Science

Science has good and bad sides, sometimes you have to take the bad to get to the good. The benefits in science outweigh the risks because the research or studies in illness in people are needed in the discovery of new cures from the common cold to AIDS, and the advance in new medicine that goes along with it, and also the discovery of new technology that helps with everyday life, the world revolves around science. The reason why I say that the benefits outweigh the risks is because, the research and studies in diseases in people are needed in the discovery for new cures from the common cold to AIDS. For example if the little things such as Neosporin, cough drops, allergy medicines weren't made the common cold would be way worse than what it is now. Because of the research our doctors and scientists have come up with. Scientist have come very far with their research and cures for diseases. Back in the 70's they would just read and search their symptoms and figure out their diagnosis. More today, compared to then it's as simple as a urine, blood, x-ray, or swab test to figure out the problem. That makes the diagnoses alone so much easier because some diagnosis have the same symptoms such as something as minor as a migraine could really be a ruptured brain aneurysm. What would todays society be without the knowledge of no cures and advances in medicine to help those simple colds to treatment for cancer?.
My great aunt died from cancer. She went to one of those crazy churches that believed god will heal all. She never got the medical treatment she needed because she felt god would heal her without medical treatment. Her cancer got to the point it was eating her flesh. It was too late for her to get treatment, so they could only give her meds for any pain she had because her cancer was too far progressed. Im not pushing my argument to a religious point, but medicine holds a lot of weight.
