Growing up, my parents brought me up to believe that stealing under any circumstances is not just wrong, but also it's a sin. I did not listen though, and when I had a chance to swipe a piece of candy or something I would. I never imagined how addicted to stealing I would become. If I could go back in time to tell my younger self to obey my parents, I would do so in a heartbeat. .
I started taking small pieces of candy and toys but graduated it lifted too more expensive shoplifted every time. Sometimes it was how expense the things I stole that inspired me rather then large amounts of quantity of items. It became one of my favorite games to play. .
One day my friend and I went into our local super market to steal a few things for lunch. Even though I had advised him that it was a bad idea because the person watching the cameras was on duty until three in the afternoon, he continued to push me forward and say everything was going to work out. I knew it was a bad idea from the start, but I blindly followed him into the store. We grabbed a few pizzas, drinks, and other snacks for later. We got the bags from the cash register and inserted our food and drinks into them. As we always did, we just casually walked toward the front of the store. But this time as soon as we approached the exit, two security guards where there waiting for us to show up. One officer wrote down our information and banned us from ever returning to the store. We were relieved to get off with just a warning and didn't get arrested. But months later we got our real punishment, letters, which told us, we owed a fine of 250 dollars each for theft.
I began stealing mostly because I did not have the money to pay for food and other small things I could not afford, but I kept stealing because after a I began to like it. It was more like a game, or contest, to see who could go in the store take as much as he can and walk out as quickly as possible.
