There are many similarities between 'The Gold Bug' and The Goonies. One big similarity is that in both stories the protagonist is after some sort of treasure. In The Goonies the treasure was on a ship, located in a cave, hidden by One-Eyed Willie. In 'The Gold Bug' the treasure is hidden in the ground , on a seemingly deserted island, by Captain Kidd. The next similarity is that both stories have a theme of greed. In The Goonies the Fratelli's were very greedy and attempted to kill little kids just to get the treasure. In 'The Gold Bug' I think William Legrand and and Jupiter were greedy when they first found the treasure and almost took it all. The last similarity is that in both stories the Protagonists want the treasure to save their families. In The Goonies Mikey wants to obtain the treasure to keep his family from moving/being addicted. In 'The Gold Bug' the narrator wants to support his mother. .
