Literary Reflection - Twilight: New Moon

New Moon is the sequel to Twilight, a romantic fantasy film based on the books by Stephenie Mayer. The movie involves the fictional characters of vampires and werewolves. Among the werewolf characters is Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner and the rest of his Native community, which includes Chaske Spencer, Tyson Houseman, Alex Meraz, Bronson Pelletier and Kiowa Gordon; all of whom are extremely attractive. I think that many people applaud the character of Jacob and other members in his community because of their physical appearance. In my opinion, New Moon had the best looking cast of Natives, in comparison to a movie that had Natives, such as The Lone Ranger, where the Native character Tonto portrayed by Johnny Depp wore unappealing clothing, and face paint. Therefore, this shows why many people applaud the characters of Jacob and his community.
In most movies such as Pocahontas, the Natives are seen as savages, uncivilized and dangerous beings whose lives are less important than that of the Europeans in the story. However, in New Moon the Native characters are portrayed as caring, heroic and courageous people. For example, when Edward breaks up with Bella, leaving her heartbroken and depressed for months, Jacob is there to comfort her making him a caring person. Also, Jacob along with his wolf pack try to protect everyone including Bella from Victoria, a vampire who has returned to have revenge on Edward for killing her mate, James. This proves that the Natives in the film are caring, heroic and courageous, which is why many people praise Jacob and his Native community in the movie New Moon.
Metropolitan cities like Toronto are becoming less populated. They are becoming less populated because many people are moving into rural areas such as Kingston or Vaughan. People are moving to these areas because there is not as many people living there, meaning that it is not very crowded like it would be in the city.
