Politics, as defined by Webster's dictionary, is the complex or aggregate of relationships of people in society, esp. those relationships involving authority or power. Politics is the inseparable constituting element of a social organization. Since human beings can not exist without a social system, which can not function without politics, it proves Plato's claim that human beings are political animals. .
The importance of existing though freedom, knowledge, and enlightenment is accentuated by Plato on The Republic. He uses the cave allegory to highlight how human beings will not survive the darkness unless they act together and be led by a philosopher king who leads them to the light. "Don't you think that the true captain will be called a real stargazer, a babbler, and a good-for-nothing by those who sail in ships governed in that way" (plato, VI,484). The fact that this allegory applies to any person in any circumstance proves that it is indeed our unchangeable nature to be political. .
Humanity has came millions of years in order to be where it is at today. Since the primitive clans of the cave man to our modern day sophisticated society, politics has always been the fabric of governance. Although it had different forms, it has always been the indirect element necessary for survival. The importance of politics in human survival is evident when studying the most successful empires in history. Most of the successful empires in history are the ones that are governed successfully. For example, the reign of the Roman Empire, which lasted from 27BC to 476AD, owes its success to the establishment of a sophisticated political system. This is a strong evidence that politics is an essential element of human survival. .
Modern democratic system owes its foundations to ancient Greece. The political systems they had proved functional and were sophisticated enough to influence our political thoughts today.
