Do I Have What it takes

Do I have what it takes to start a successful clothing company? Would anyone want to buy my product? I know that it could take years to get my company into the real world, but I have decided that for my Senior Project I will give it a shot. Although there are countless clothing companies and designers out there, I want to get a taste of it and see if my ideas can compete. I plan to work with my mentor who is a representative of a clothing line and he will help to further my knowledge of how to get my company off the ground.
When you walk into any clothing store and see something you like, you may think to yourself how they came up with the design. Well since my freshman year, I have wanted to be that designer. I find myself constantly doodling ideas for what a potential design could look like. I will doodle in class and on the computer and then I came to think, "what if I had my own company?" I contacted my mentor who I knew would know what I was thinking, for he had the same idea a few years ago. I estimate that my project will take about 40 hours, and if I become noticed hopefully countless more. I want to spend at least six hours per week finalizing designs, getting them printed onto clothing, and selling them. My mentor, Travis St. Denis, is a representative of Phreek Industries, a clothing company started by a young man out of Rocklin about four years ago. I plan on working with him through any hardships that may occur so I can get my brand and my name noticed. The financial cost for this project could become very expensive; all depending on if people want the clothing and if they do then we will print a lot, and if they do not, then we won't print as much. After finalizing my designs and printing them on clothing, I will donate the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. I hope that I can have most of my designs finalized and printed before Christmas so I can make the donation.
