Environmental Degradation

"We will never know the worth of water till the well is dry" – Thomas Fuller .

Long-term physical, ecological effects that harm the environment can be seen environmental issues. An environment incorporates many unique living and non-living components and organisms. Plants and animals are evident aspects all environments, and include things that they depend on such as trees, soil, streams and lakes. However, the planet is facing an environmental crisis 'unprecedented' to human history. One of these issues is Environmental degradation.
Environmental degradation is defined as the actions performed that negatively impact or harm the environment. It is the process of which the environment is compromised in ways affecting its biodiversity. The process can be caused by natural impacts, or accelerated by human activity. Environmental degradation occurs when the planet's natural resources (water, air, soil etc.) has exhausted and depleted by human activities at a rate faster than it can be replenished. If the rate of resource usage continues to remain high, it is likely that the resource will become non-renewable or even non-existent. The major causes of environmental degradation include deforestation, pollution, desertification and natural causes. .
             Deforestation .
             Overview.
Forests cover approximately 31% of the Earth's surface and produce vital oxygen and provide shelter for animals. It provides us with many benefits, including producing goods such as timber and paper and mitigating climate change by consuming carbon dioxide. Tropical forest, such as those found in then Amazon, is responsible in controlling the water cycle, which provides water for specific regions. Half of the world's 'anti-caner plants' were originally identified in forests. But it is a fact that many forests around the world are under the threat deforestation. .
Deforestation is essentially the clearance of trees, by either logging or burning.
