Therefore if we want to save our society we must take part in politics. By knowing our politics we are able to know what is best for our society. .
As a student, I believes that students in middle/high school should participate in politics by learning about their environment, having debates, and being exposed to both parts of the story. In addition, people must take the initiative to understand both the democratic and republican views. There have several instances in junior/high school, where kids are so predisposed due to what they hear the parents say at home (I was guilty of this) that they do not get the time to have their unbiased opinions. Even in our community, sometime our thoughts get clouded by he say says not thinking about what is being said and solely feeding into the rumors it because everyone else says so. As a result, this custom is bad for voting because people do not fathom what they are really talking about, and putting negative energy in our community.
Politics is all about power and how they can govern every facet of our lives. This is proven through the bylaws they agree to behind closed chambers. One of the reasons why I did not vote in the past is because of how strong my hatred for politics was. Growing up I have always had a strong dislike for Politics. I feel as though they are full of corruption. Living in the Virgin Islands for a while, due to former governors my anxiety for politics had increased. .
One question that has always bamboozled me is, "why would society trust a specific group of people with their lives and not trust the other group?" This course has made me realized that I cannot pin the blame on the government alone. I feel that whatever we have been through is because of the people that we decided to put our trust in. Is it okay to trust these people because they say we should? If one really has to sit and think about that question, some may conclude that other than what they sell to voters, we really do not know the real person standing behind the power that has been giving to them willingly.
