The Great Creation Debate

We learn at a young age what we want to know and usually stay with what we believe in throughout our lives.
King states in the Truth about Stories, "The truth about stories is that's all we are," (King The Truth about Stories 2. This could relate to our personal stories and people remember us through how we live, or it could relate through stories in such that the Bible tells us. King refers to a similar quote, "For once a story is told, it cannot be called back. Once told, it is loose in the world," (King The Truth about Stories 10). We learn and believe the stories that we are told, whether they are good or bad, or true or false. As long as we have answers on the questions that we want to know, people will be satisfied with what they have heard and spread their stories to others, similar to religion.
As we move through our lives, we live through the stories that we made when we were younger and the stories that we choose to make as we get older. Momaday interprets this speculation through a quote from John Pei stating, "I was born to words, truly I do remember myself," (Momaday The Indolent Boys 28). This could imply that we are the stories that we hear. Throughout our adult lives, people love to reminisce on the stories that we created when we were younger. It helps create a connection between a group of friends or family that cannot be broken.
Momaday writes a similar quote in, "The Moon in Two Windows," "I am a man, but I remember the child I was I was afraid, but I prepared my heart to be brave," (Momaday The Moon in Two Windows 111). Momaday could be referring about the progression through our lives. We are not worried about our past because we are aware of what happened and it was over with. However, as we progress through life, we are afraid of the obstacles that we might face and how we must overcome them. The best way to prepare for our life ahead of us, our future, is to be ready for what is in store, and be brave.
