Franks work shows some of the odd reflection of life in America from the nationalism in that everyday life may be overtaking the lives of the individual. In his work he points out politicians and segregation, for the time what we now know to be wrong was simply not important to some people in the past. He showed the timelessness of the present that could be further understood and exploited in the future. At first glance of his work seems to be patriotic and full of life but with a closer look by altering my perspective from a patriotic individual to a opened minded individual I saw the controversy that over takes Franks photography. Despite my love for this country I cannot deny what's going on his photography even when it doesn't make it clear that there's something wrong it makes me thing of the possibilities of what can be going wrong by connecting the little things in his work and relaying it back to the country we're apart of. The work is no longer romanticized but a mixture of simple events that take on obscure personalities of life on the road in America. Frank set the mood for future photographers by inspiring other photographers by his ability to represent broad topics such as America and show the connection between life seen from the inside to life seen from the outside. .
Another photographer that relates to America through their work is Garry Winnograd who is similar to Robert frank by takes pictures of people but what defines Winnograds work is he captures people as a charter that reflects deeper meaning. Unlike Frank, Winnograd emphasizes the people in his photos; their originality holds its own by taking the spotlight in the photo with little effect of what's going on in the background with some exceptions. Winnograd captures the array of exterior personalities throughout America, specifically city folks with some rural photos but his key concept is the people in the photos are not showing their own personalities but what they reflect and is perceived by what they look like and what there doing.
