Putting and End to Human Trafficking

Nothing drives the passion and stirs the emotion, especially in the United States, more than the horrendous stories of modern-day human slavery. Whether sexual, domestic, or labor, the terror and horror that human trafficking victims have endured defies the scope of our sensitivities. Between 600,000 and 800,000 people worldwide are brought into human trafficking each year. Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery and is mainly broken down into two forms. Those two forms re sex and labored trafficking. It is a huge problem amongst females under the age of 18. Human trafficking is something that can change a person's life and take a total emotional toll as well. What makes a person or community vulnerable to human trafficking, why are women targeted for sex trafficking and why are children targeted for trafficking as well? These are everyday questions that get asked when Human Trafficking is brought up. .
Some people will say what makes a person or community vulnerable to Human Trafficking and there are many different factors to that. The article writer of "Human Trafficking is caused by the Greed of Criminals", states "Many trafficking prevention programs broadly assume that, no matter the local context, the key vulnerability factors are poverty and lack of knowledge about human trafficking"(Bales). Most people that are targeted for human trafficking are poor and do not have money, but that does not mean that they are the ones that should be trafficked or anyone for that case. Studies throughout various parts of Asia demonstrate that poverty, low education, and lack of understanding about human trafficking are not necessarily key contributing factors to vulnerability at all. For example, higher education among girls in Northern Thailand has been documented to increase risk of trafficking, since the high opportunity cost of being in school for so long increases the pressures and hopes that girls feel to earn good money and increase their family's social status.
