Finding Economic Freedom

Studies show that immigrants in Canada impose a burden $6,000 each by consuming more in services than they pay in taxes. This objective of this paper is to discuss the impact of immigration on the any free economy and how Canada will benefit from new coming immigrants in the long and short term.
There are many reasons why immigrants select Canada out of all other countries, and I can list the top five reasons why they want to be here. The first reason that attract immigrants to Canada is the fact that knowing they will have a better quality of life in Canada than their native home. Since the year 1994 the United Nations has rated Canada as one of the top five best countries in the world to live in. Second is its BOOMING economy. Third we have better Education than so many other countries. Fourth Canadians have access to social assistance programs, affordable housing, FREE HEALTHCARE, and a strong government that helps its people. And the fifth reason Canada is safe and secure. There is a huge difference between immigration levels in Canada before and after 1990. After the year 1990 the average yearly immigration intake in Canada was more than 250,000 immigrants per year. Before the year 1990, Canada used the policy "Tap-On, and Tap-Off", this means when Canada had labor shortages, it turned the immigration tap on to satisfy Canada's needs, and when there is an excess of labor, it turned the immigration tap down or off to prevent the unemployment rate to raise. Canadian then showed two attitudes towards newcomers, generous and welcoming, or fearful. This policy was abandoned after the year 1990, because the huge number of immigrants settled in Canada. This policy also was abandoned because political parties did not want to lose votes from the settled immigrants. From that year to now, high immigrant intake has been virtually institutionalized and immigration policy has abandoned the needs of Canadian workers.
