Often, I hear comments intended to make us doubt that the learning system at schools and universities wouldn't work, that it would be less bound to prepare students for practice but rather let them be caught in a web of theories, of dry stuff, of knowledge not alleged or assumed worthy to be taught. Students, constantly ask whether or not certain courses would be necessary for them to learn, whether or not it would make sense to do this or to do that, whether there was somehow a whatever distant possibility that one could skip some things not really necessary.

Constantly, I hear students on my College campus arguing the fact that general education classes shouldn't be required, or should they. Students are questioning if these general education course are really needed, to get their degree. Many want to just skip the general education classes and just concentrate on our majors. Some students feel they should be able to make the decision whether or not they need these refresher classes. But teachers on the other hand feel otherwise about the subject. Teachers feel that allowing a student to take general education courses offers the students a way to develop stronger skills; it's a better refresher for students, especially for the ones that may have forgotten some information or overview. Nevertheless, it keeps the students always aware of the course of study and at a moderate learning rate. Today, students may feel different about these colleges around our nation enforcing general education as a requirement. Colleges today mandate that each student must complete their general education classes before moving on to their majors or upon completion of their degrees the general education requirements must be fulfilled. .
In my personal opinion I think colleges should allow students that need these refresher courses the benefit of taking them. However, for the students that feel they don't need the extra general education course they should be allowed to concentrate on their majors.
