Victims have a fear of anxiety; their safty has changed. Everything reminds them of the trauma including smells, noises, and places. Some even re-experience the trauma by unwanted thoughts, flashbacks, and nightmares (Kilpatrick). They will start feeling jumpy, jittery, shaky, startled, and have trouble sleeping. They will also see the world as being filled with danger and their reaction to this danger is to freeze (Franklin). Common problems after trauma include the use of drugs and alcohol.
